Are You and Your Family Ready for the Stresses That Fall Brings?

Adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha, reishi, astragalus, cordyceps, and maca are the quintessential Naturopathic supplements. As the name suggests, they help the body adapt to stress and bring about balance within the system, tapping into the body’s innate ability to heal itself. Stress - physical (such as toxicity or deficiency) and/or emotional - is the primary contributor to inflammation and dis-ease in the body. Adaptogens help the body cope with these stresses and promote wellbeing and longevity. They can help balance cortisol levels, reverse low energy, improve sleep, replenish libido, support immune function, and improve overall resilience to physical and emotional stress.

Some hints that you might benefit from including adaptogenic herbs into your diet are weight gain (especially around the middle), afternoon slumps, feeling anxious or unable to cope well with stress, low libido, poor sleep (especially waking between 1 and 3 am with the mind reeling), having frequent infections, feeling wired but tired, dependence on caffeine for energy, lacking gumption and/or suffering brain fog. Sounds like most of the population these days, eh? If this sounds like you, it might be time to add some adaptogens into your life. There are many forms and ways to include adaptogens in your daily routine. Below are a few of my favorites. (We have our Apoptogenic herbs on sale at 15% off for the month of August.)

Tinctures (liquids):

Ashwagandha with L-Theanine – If you are looking to improve your focus and feel zen at the same time, this is a great supplement. I actually take it as needed when I have a lot of work to do. It is meant to be “stacked” with coffee (see King Coffee below) for better mental performance, but that is not necessary.

Core Ashwagandha – This is a magical mushroom that is known to create relaxation, support adrenal health, improve cognitive function, promote better sleep and balance the immune system.

Core Maca – This is a great adaptogenic root (we also carry a capsule form) that is especially beneficial for balancing women’s hormones. It seems to be great for menopausal concerns, increasing fertility, improving mood, and increasing libido.

Core Mycelia Blend – Kids love this tasty liquid. It is a blend of several adaptogenic mushrooms and Astragalus to strengthen and balance immune function. You can give it daily to help keep them well.

Powders to drink or add to your smoothie:

Adaptive Cacao – This powder is a super-yummy chocolate powder with several adaptogenic herbs and superfoods added to it, which include reishi, ashwagandha, cordyceps, lion’s mane, and chaga, as well as prebiotic fiber and raw cacao. It is 3x stronger than Four Sigmatic™ and 12 x stronger than MUD WTR™ in case you have heard of those popular drinks.

King Coffee – I LOVE this organic instant coffee (never thought I would say that about instant coffee, but it is very tasty). It contains reishi mushrooms to balance out the effects of the caffeine, giving you a mild and balanced energy boost while supporting the immune system and adrenal glands. I find that even drinking it later in the day does not affect my sleep and I feel great. It is perfect for traveling, as it comes in serving-size packets.

We carry the following adaptogenic mushrooms individually in the absolute highest grade powdered form, as well:

Reishi, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Chaga, and Turkey Tail. Each has a different focus. Click here for more information about the mushrooms, their benefits,

and some recipes.

Most adaptogens work better cumulatively over time, so you will get the best results by taking them consistently for at least a month to see the real benefits. Ask your practitioner to muscle test you to see if adding adaptogens might benefit you and enjoy the special discounts we are having this month.
